Hostyle - Arms crossed (Twofold) - 2007
Artwork by James Beaver

Out of all the villains in Twofold corner of my comic universe, Hostyle is one of the oldest second only to the Smiling Demon. His appearance has changed since 1993 but the core inspiration and his backstory still remains the same. On a chaotic island near Hong Kong, Hostyle destroyed or took over many of the gangs with a persona more fitting for a video game's final boss than an actual criminal. Not only does he fight like one, but the outfit seen here pays obvious tribute to quite a few video game villains. As I was trying to make his facemask look less like some random psuedo-military gear, I unintentionally gave it a look closer to Sodom from the Final Fight and Street Fighter games. Once I noticed that, I made it look a bit more like an oni mask. He'll eventually have a collection of masks so this is just the default one. To play up the video game boss thing, I had him stand in a pose similar to a classic M.Bison (known as Vega in Japan)
