I needed a picture to pad out the 1998 "the Entity" anthology (which had Ace & M-Wave vs. Trick or Treat and the Nutroll: Escapism preview) and didn't want to add another character profile page. It had to be done quickly and there are a lot of the usual signs of me rushing a pic. The main one is how thin Ace looks here. There isn't enough evidence of motion on the guy (who may be Mug, 'cause I can't remember) that Batterram is slamming by his shirt. Just one motion line that gets lost once you shrink it. I didn't blur out Phenomenon's face since he's in energy form and he's my favorite part of this pic. They're fighting D-Gennr-8, a group that was originally called D-Gen-R-X until a worldly-known wrestling federation made a stable with a similar name and I've hated that stable ever since. They were a parody of how characters were starting to look in the 90's which got funnier when an actual group came out that not only dressed like that but had a name close to it (I think you can guess who that is). This was also a preview for the eventual Vigilants comic where D-Gen-R-X would be in the first issue. |
