The prints on both this site (and ScrollBoss) are on sale for Cyber-Week, which lasts until Sunday, November 6th. 8×10 and 8×11 prints are $4.50 each while the 11 x 17 prints $8.50 each.

ScrollBoss’ update yesterday wrapped up November’s business yesterday by adding Illmosis character sprites to the gallery on ScrollBoss and making a new SFA3 portrait for Karnov, just to make sure that I’ve properly celebrated Karnovember. Today’s update adds a new sprite to go with the cyber theme:

This isn’t an 11th Anniversary post as much as it’s a “this place isn’t dead” post. I haven’t updated since the All-AmeriCon and a lot has happened since then. So this post is going to play catch-up and talk about what’s next.

Sprites were made and posted on ScrollBoss, including a lot of horror characters for another DangerTerrorHorrorThon that wrapped up on Halloween.

Updating the sprite group pics on this site to add sprites is too time consuming, which is part of why they haven’t been updated in months. ScrollBoss’ sprite galleries are easy to update, but lack the features that the I made for the art galleries. I’ll stick to adding single pieces here (including pixel art prints) until I can make one merged gallery system.

I did some commission pixel work, but you’ll have to wait to see the ridiculously fun background I made. The biggest thing was buying Anime Studio 10 with money I made at the All-AmeriCon and then, for once, following through with trying to learn a recent art program purchase.

It’s easier for me to learn the ropes of the program using pixel art, so that’s part of why my focus has been on that. The program can also use Manga Studio/Clip Studio files, so that’s even more incentive for me to learn those program and transition to having fun with drawn art in the program.

I was going to talk about things I plan to work on, but that never works out well for me, does it? Example: plans to do a big group of Illmosis character sprites for this update fell off when my sinus problems decided to hit me with a truck, and my concentration is so shot that even typing this post is tougher than it should be. That didn’t stop me from getting a Nutroll sprite finished. I’ve been working on some character redesigns and revamps while doing the pixel art sketches, like Exponent over there. Her hair color change is thanks to how a major TV show decided to have a redhead who can make duplicates of herself. I also shortened her hair in hero mode so that her silhouette looks less like Mindsight’s. Honestly, I dig the purple hair, so it all worked out. I’ll be making more Illmosis sprites this month and I’ll add them to ScrollBoss in a special update.

Scarlett in her v.1 outfit.2015 '20XX' Illmosis network promotional flyer.Pixel art group shot of some infamous Gotham City villains

Scarlett, the first G.I.JOE character I’ve drawn, inked and colored in a long, long time, now has a pic on the site. I also added the Gotham villains pixel art group shot I previewed on ScrollBoss a few weeks ago. Both pics have been added to the prints page. I also added the 20XX site party flyer that I’ll have on hand at the All AmeriCon comic convention. It’s mainly the 2014 flyer, but with a preview of an upcoming ScrollBoss character. Her sprite will part of this weekend’s 15th Anniversary update for the site.

I’ll be in Artist’s Alley at the All AmeriCon convention this Saturday (July 18th) in Warren, Ohio. I’ll have the new pics with me, along with previews of new stuff I’ll be adding to the sites. I’ll probably be drawing linework for sprites I’ll drop in the ScrollBoss 15th Anniversary update, so you can see me scribble while suffering the effects of sleep deprivation. Besides the always-packed Artist’s Alley, there will be cosplay contests, toy dealers (I’ll try not to spend all my scratch there) and special guests Michael Golden (Micronauts, G.I.JOE), Renee Witterstaetter (writer, colorist, editor) and Darryl Banks (artist and one of the few good costume designers from the ’90s).

Flash (Barry Allen)Gilius Thunderhead 2014 picTMNT sprites made from scratch.
This easily qualifies as an unfinished business post. That Flash pic adds a background to a picture I drew and colored two months ago, but Gilius himslef was originally done last year (part of “The Revenge of 1989” for the ScrollBoss site) and the new-style Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle sprites started with Raph last December. If you recognize the background for those TMNT sprites on their gallery page, consider it a preview for something I’m working on quietly. The Flash pic has been added to the Prints page and the Gilius pic will join it once I get a sample print to see how it looks.

My own copy of the ScrollBoss Minus World Skull shirt from TeePublic.com came in the mail yesterday, right along with a new batch of prints. I didn’t realize this until I hunted down the old scan to clean up and vectorize for the shirt (and other projects), but that graphic is now over 10 years old. It goes back to when I redesigned the ScrollBoss site before moving to Dreamhost. I wanted something creepy-but-still-goofy for the Twilight Zone-style vibe that section of ScrollBoss went for at times. That section will have yet another change in the future, but that’s a whole different story.

I’ll be at the Warren, Ohio location of All-American Cards & Comics on Free Comic Book Day (May 2nd), but don’t let that cause you to avoid the place. I’ll be selling prints and will have some unposted pics and sprites to show for anyone who stops by.

Lego Spidey swinging.Fake screenshots of a 2-D fighting game filled with horror movie characters.

The newest thing in this update has a bit of oldness to it. It’s a fake screenshot with two 1980’s horror icons about to face off in a video game, but you’ll also see quite a few cameos in the character selection boxes. I updated the Lego Spider-Man pic a while back but decided to save it for this site update.

The horror pixel art pic, Spider-Man and the ol’ Secret Awesome President pic have been added to the improved prints page. The 8×10 and 8.5×11 inch pics are $6 each, and two for $10. There will be more pixel art prints added to the site this year (I have ideas for a 3 vs. 3 sequel for the Horror game print if the first one sells well). Most of the profits will go towards paying to keep the websites going, art supplies, ordering more prints and essential non-essentials (old kung-fu flicks, music, action figures, etc.) that keep me inspired as a weirdo.

I decided to draw new fan art of my favorite Jason Voorhees-inspired video game character, Rick Taylor from Namco’s Splatterhouse series:

My 2015 art goal is to get funky or die tryin’, so I tried to make this pic look a little weird. I’ll probably try to digitally ink and/or redraw this later. This pic will be added to the site gallery in next week’s update.

The new Rick pic is also served as a base for a new select screen/Vs. screen portrait I made and uploaded as part of today’s small ScrollBoss update. You’ll also find a preview of my first pixel art print ever, something that will be on the site (and possibly in the site’s store) next week.

Lego Spidey swinging.TMNT sprites made from scratch.Shinobi sprites made from scratch.Sprites of Ninja Gaiden characters (classic series)

That Lego-Spider-Man picture is finally in full-color and on a toy background that may seem familiar to some of you. Yesterday was officially (?) Ninja Day in Japan, so I’ve added ninja-related sprites to the gallery from three great game series: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden.

Flash (Barry Allen)fighting game-style sprites of the Flash: Jay, Barry and Wallyfighting game-style sprites of villains from DC Comics.Sprites based on the Tiny Titans from DC Comics
Flash week is over, but I still had unfinished business with the Flash’s artwork. I redrew the head, the reason why I stalled on coloring it during Flash week, and finished the coloring. That’s been added to the site along with a lot of pixel art I made during that week. The Flashes get a gallery page, the Rogues have been added to the DC Villains page and a Tiny Titans Kid Flash was added to the Tiny Titans page.

Flash (Barry Allen)

Not only was the Flash one of my first favorite characters back when I was a young’un, but it was also one of the few books to keep me reading comics back in hologram-bejeweled, stunt-encrusted 1990’s. Since this is the month that DC is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Flash (staring with Jay Garrick, the original) and this is the day that the Flash’s excellent live-action TV show returns with new eps, I’ll be celebrating the Flash all this week on Illmosis AND ScrollBoss. There will be an update there a bit later on today (check around 5 PM EST) The update with Flash-related (and semi-related) pixel art, including an animated .GIF are up now!

So.

I don’t like to make personal posts, but I think I owe you this one and I’ll keep it as short as possible. The short version: updates will be a bit weird for a while due to work and health reasons, but there will hopefully be more newness this year than there was last year.
