Megatron (Transformers) - 2000
Artwork by James Beaver

While the background says 2000, I think I drew the Megatron picture in 1999. Maybe. Believe it or not, this is one of the few TF poses that I've drawn that I'm still happy with. It was okay for it's time. I think I drew him after Optimus, Prowl, Starscream and Bumblebee. I was still trying to adjust to drawing Transformers again.

One of the strange things about this background are the deactivated robots that Megatron is standing on. Everyone pretty much assumed that they were Autobots even though NO ONE in the picture has an Autobot symbol. So what's the story behind them? Simply put, I had some weird idea about a group of Autobots sent on an earlier mission to find a planet with energon-friendly resources. They removed their symbols and just wanted to live in peace. Eventually, the Decepticons found them and the results weren't too pretty. The one female in the background is still alive and would escape to join the Autobots. Not much more to it than that. Just a background with too much back story. Anyway, the point is that Megatron shouldn't be messed with and I think that comes across here.
