*looks at blog* I was so worn out this year that I forgot to put up a post in March when I added the flat color version of this Crash Test minifig art. But, yeah, the full color version is here now.

Anyone wondering what I was up to for most of this year should probably check out the ScrollBoss site, I managed to get a lot of new pixel art done and posted there, especially for the 20th Anniversary updates. the ScrollBoss YouTube account got a lot of new vids, the most I’ve ever uploaded within a year, along with the most animation I’ve ever done. That doesn’t even count all the things I finished but didn’t show because they’re part of a video or site theme I didn’t get to use yet.

My main 2020 plan, at least the only one I’m saying right now, is to replace some of my old artwork with new versions. I’ve got other ideas, but there’s no point in announcing any of that until it’s ready. I’d also like to try and update this site more than once next year, that’d be wild, right?

Surprise, I didn’t completely neglect the site on its birthday! Currently taking a break to get some rest, but I just had to sketch my poor old neglected characters. Will this turn into something bigger later on? *shrugs*

First of all, there’s a print sale going on until August 1st, with 8×10/8×11 prints $4 and 11×17 prints at $8, so if you’ve been thinking about getting a print, this is a good time to go to the print page and jump on it while the jumping’s cheaper.

The sale started last Friday as part of the ScrolBoss site’s 19th anniversary. I added some newly-made sprites to the galleries and a Marvel vs. Capcom 1 ending option to the main generator. I had to improve the generator engine, fix some old bugs to do it, and rewrite a tool I made to make generator parts, but I got it going and it’s kinda fun.

New art of Marvel’s Carol Danvers in her Ms. Marvel outfit has been added to the gallery. I posted the sketch in a few places on the internet after drawing it on New Year’s Eve (somehow forgetting to post it here, as usual), but the color version is brand new! This is the first full picture I’ve done with the brand new XP-PEN monitor tablet that I bought a few months ago. I couldn’t have done a lot of the things in the new pic without having a monitor tablet, because I could never fully get over the mental disconnect of not looking where I’m drawing. Before inking Danvers, I drew quite a few sprites at 2X or 4X before dropping them down to pixel art and I think that let me get comfortable enough with the tablet to start inking some art.

Speaking of sprites, the latest ScrollBoss update features an early look at an idea I’ve been scheming to do for a long time: the ScrollBoss Showcade.

The Youngstown Comic-Con is almost here and I’ll be there in artist’s alley on Sunday, July 7th (sorry, I can only be there for one day again). I’ll have the 8 x10, 17 x 11, the small pixel art prints, and trading card-sized original art cards (pencil and ink) with me, but you can just roll through to say what’s up. It’s a great convention every year and I hope to see you there!
