Captain America (Marvel Comics) - 2005
Artwork by James Beaver

I'd been trying to draw a solo pic of a standing Captain America off and on for what seems like forever, but was more like 3 months. Many earlier attempts were thrown away just because they looked too much like someone else had drawn. It took a while, but I finally got one that looks decent here. My only regret is listening to the 'inner voices' that said, 'They'll call you lazy if you cover up the arm with the shield! They're all going to laugh at you!' Meh. Don't be surprised if you see an alternate version soon with a shield in the front LIKE IT SHOULD'VE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE!

The main thing that I'm proud of here: the face. I was trying to go a bit 'Kirby-ish' with the face, especially after reading Essential Cap vol. 2 about five times. With the body, I wanted him to look big, but not to the point where it'd be impossible for him to move as fast as he does.
