Sprites - Contra series (Contra) - 2012 Artwork by James Beaver The first two sprites of Bill and Lance from Contra are based on the poses from the classic NES box art. Despite the fact that the two characters' designs are loosely based on Arnold Schwarzenegger (Bill) and Sylvester Stallone (Lance), both poses were based on stills of Arnold from the Predator film. The sprites's uniforms are based on the in-game sprites from the arcade version and the NES sprites (even though Bill has black hair in it due to graphic limitations of the system).
