Ninja Gaiden Sprites (Tecmo) - 2014-2025 Artwork by James Beaver The early sprites of Ryu and Irene were made in 2014, when nearly all of that year's updates on ScrollBoss were based on 1989 games for their 25th anniversary. Ryu is in his NES game's stance and one of Irene's is based on her Ninja Gaiden 1 cutscene debut. The latest Ryu sprites started in 2022 and I redrew all of Irene's in 2025. The Hockey Mask enemy sprites were made for a Friday the 13th-themed update Feb. 2015 on ScrollBoss. I'd made one of the masked T-shirt guy for an earlier Friday the 13th update, but didn't really like how it turned out. I used the new t-shirt sprite as a base to make the axe-carrying version that appears in the NES game.
