Sprites - Tekken (Namco) - 2012

The biggest problem with trying to make sprites based on natively 3-D character designs is that most of the models are designed to cram in as much detail as possible. Luckily, Tekken doesn't go overboard with all of the outfits and most of the designs can be boiled down to basic color blocks and still be recognizable. Kazuya's first sprite is based on a pose seen in lots of official artwork in different angles. Nina's first pose is based on a move in one of her old taunts in which she swipes her arm down. Her sprite looks a bit too small, so I may have to resize and resprite her a bit. Yoshimitsu's sprite of resting on his sword is based on a render for Tekken 2. Yoshimitsu was the hardest character to sprite because of how his designs look in different pictures. His T3-style sprite is based on a mix of the in-game Tekken 3 model (especially the symmetrical designs on the legs) and the big renders from T3 and Tekken Tag Tournament.
