the Viper - standing (Marvel Comics) - 2005
Artwork by James Beaver

After reading the Essential Captain America Vol. 2 so many times, I decided to draw Viper in her 1980's look that I first saw her fighting Captain America in. The Viper is one of those characters in the great Marvel tradition of fighting in almost any book. She's been popping up in the X-Men books lately, (thankfully ditching that Tomb Raider look she had for a few books) in a snazzy new outfit that I don't like as much as this one. So there.
Going for the 'sexy but dangerous' thing again. Despite an earlier attempt where the pose was coming out as completely plain, this 2nd, hasty pose attempt worked out pretty well. This took me about hours to do, but that also includes eating a Chicken Pattie sammitch with iced tea, constantly looking at the clock and reading an incredibly disturbing article on Salon.com. Maybe 2 hours without all the distractions. Looks like my drawing speed may be returning after all... or not. Finally colored in 2006 after getting my PC running nicely again.
